BUDAPEST— A group of wide-eyed American MAGA superfans recently completed the inaugural “Make Hungary Great Again” study tour, returning home with glowing reports about Hungary’s unique approach to “freedom,” “security,” and “democracy.” The trip, organized by Fox News influencer Larry Patriot, aimed to give American conservatives a first-hand look at the “model nation” so often cited by Trump and Tucker.
“It’s like 1950s America—if you subtract all the messy parts like immigrants, free media, and losing elections,” gushed one participant, clutching a Viktor Orbán bobblehead.
Tour members praised Hungary’s “almost total absence” of immigrants. (with the minor exception of Russians, but none of the group could tell the difference)
“We heard they built a big wall. Turns out it’s just one dude with a ‘Go Away’ sign, but hey, it works,” said Steve, a frequent Truth Social poster.
Attendees raved about how the news always seems to agree with the government.
“In America, we have fake news. Here, it’s all real—because if it isn’t, you get fined, sued, or moved to a charming countryside ‘retreat,’” noted Linda, who once owned a Facebook group called “Stop the Steal & Start the Stew.”
Several tourists expressed awe at Hungary’s “election innovation.”
“Why risk losing when you can just rewrite the rules?” said Mark, a county GOP chair from Indiana. “We should do that back home—call it ‘Protecting Democracy Forever.’”
“The left complains, but here they understand the art of the deal. If you want cheap gas, just say ‘nice things’ about Orban. So simple.”
Despite the cheerful itinerary, a few MAGA travelers were shocked to learn that some of what they’d heard from Fox and Trump wasn’t quite true:
Upon returning, the tourists were quick to post their highlights online.
“My favorite part? The ‘Loyalty to Viktor’ wristband and the new law that says only journalists approved by the government can publish the news. No more ‘fake stories’ about crime rates or protests!”
“The best part is you never have to hear from anyone who disagrees. The silence is so… peaceful.”
One visitor, perhaps too honest, confessed:
“Honestly, it was kind of weird not seeing any dissent. But then I remembered, that’s the dream, right?”
The group is now lobbying the U.S. State Department to establish “Freedom Learning Centers” in key battleground states. Their campaign slogan:
“If you can’t beat democracy, just… Hungary it!”
